Danielle + Tom's Winter Photo Session featuring the Admiral Room at the Marin

A few weeks ago I met up with past wedding clients, Danielle + Tom, for a little experimental photo session in Buffalo, NY. My wedding and portrait style of photography is very bright and cheerful and playful, but I also have a deep love for dramatic and moody images (often described as film noir), that I haven't really played around with before in portrait sessions. I think it's partially because I'm more drawn to photographing joyful and happy moments with a ton of laughter.

We met at the Admiral Room @ the Marin, a newly renovated and gorgeous building in downtown Buffalo that will soon be open for weddings and other events. It proved to be a great backdrop for what I was looking to achieve with a little bit more dramatic lighting in some areas, and the building's beautiful architectural details added interesting touches I absolutely adore. We finished their session with some photos out on the snowy streets of Buffalo.

Danielle + Tom, it was so fun to experiment with you both (and catch up!) and I am so happy with how these photos turned out – a good mixture of a little mood with lighting and still showing the love and laughter you both share. Thank you so much, and I cannot wait to see you again!

Caitlin + Keith's North Buffalo Winter Engagement Session

The holidays are a special time for loved ones to get together but it's also a joyful time for couples in love like Caitlin and Keith who are recently engaged! (It's also one of my favorite times of the year to do engagement photos)

Despite the sun shining us down us, it was freezing cold the day of their session, but Caitlin and Keith were such troopers! We started out at Delaware Park for photos with their dog and then made a pit stop at their home to warm up, take some photos there, and change outfits. We ended their session with a brisk stroll down Hertel Ave – joined this time by large falling snowflakes. It was the perfect combination of love and weather for their winter engagement session and I'm excited to share a few with you today!
